Wild boars are animals mostly wild, and are the ancestors of pigs. They belong to the Suidae family. The female of the wild boar is smaller than the male, and it is called a sow. The little wild boars are called piglets.

Wild boars have a powerful body, a massive neck, and a cone-shaped head. They have a brown thick fur, that can be red for the youngest. They can be recognized by their visible and curved canines.

Wild boars only live in groups during the first two years following their birth, and then they become more lonely. They mainly eat vegetables such as acorns, chestnuts, mushrooms, roots, but also little animals such as larva, worms, and rodents. In this way, wild boars are omnivores, but they can turn scavengers as well and eat dead or dying animals bigger than them.

Wild boars appear in some cartoons and comics. In The Lion King, the protagonist called Simba becomes friend with a wild boar called Pumbaa. One of the Shredder allies in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a kind of human-wild boar. Wild boars are also the favorite meat of Asterix and Obelix.
