Initially, the cartoon focuses on Bloom an average teenager living on Earth. But she becomes aware of her magical powers the day she meets Stella-a princess in danger. Bloom enrolls in Alfea, a fairy school. Along with her roommates she creates the Winx Club. Later on, the girls make friends with the Specialists, a group of boys endowed with magical powers as well. But the fairies also make enemies: a trio of witches named the Trix: Icy, Darcy, and Stormy.
Each winx has her specific characteristic and own magical power. Bloom has a strong temper, everybody can rely on her. She belongs to the Domino Planet. Stella is the popular fairy, she is energetic and fickle - far from being down-to-earth. She has the power of the sun and the moon. Flora is sensitive and has a passion for Nature.
