A wizard is someone who is endowed with magical powers and who uses them for better or for worse. Depending on the wizard, whether he is a good or a bad person, he will use his innate powers to get what he wants to or to help others.

Wizards in tales or animations for kids are wearing long gray or dark blue or black tunic, which one is covered by a black cape. Wizards also wear a high pointed black hat and are equipped with a magic wand and sometimes a magic broom they can ride in the air and fly with. They also often have a black cat as pet, and witches are usually decked out with greenish complexion and a big hairy pustule on their noise.

Wizards or witches often have a bad reputation for they put curses on people, their victims being helpless in view of their situation. They also prepare magical potions in their cauldron with all sorts of ingredients, all more frightening than the others : frogs' legs, toads' dribble, pigeons' liver and so on. They meet on occasions in the woods to sing around their cauldron and make some incantations and other weird things. Wizards and witches are feared and people attribute many faults and evil acts to them.

Wizards as we just defined them are those encountered in fables, children's tales and other Harry Potter. However, wizards and witches exist for long and have often been rejected, pointed at, persecuted and even condemned to burn on pyre. Their dreadful fate has always been the consequences of incomprehension and of rejection of differences by a majority in power.

Today, some African wizards are considered as great medicine men and often serve as doctors in some villages. These witch doctors' knowledge is transmitted from generation to generation, and their powers are innate. So you would have understood : does not become a witch who wants to.
