The Best Of The Midwest: PCA LAN, Continued

Greg had a great "spread" for the 'bottomless pit' hungry gamers, with chips and soda included in the admission price of $30. Greg really pulled out all the stops when he fired up the grill at dinnertime: his staff cooked at least 400 Angus beef hamburgers and 800 Angus beef hot dogs. This would have been a bargain at twice the price just to eat some of those hot dogs.

Gaming was tons of fun, with many servers running continuously. All the current popular games were there, including Counter-Strike, BF1942, UT2K3 and America's Army. There were servers for older games, too. The only thing missing from this event was the usual scheduled tournaments.

Alas, there were no tournaments. Greg had originally planned to set up some brackets, and I have no doubt the gamers would have participated if he had done that. Unfortunately, the best laid plans of mice and men often fail...it was just too much for Greg to do. The attendees were having too much fun gaming and goofing off to get serious enough for a formal tournament. So, Greg decided to just go with the flow and let the gamers determine what they wanted to do. What a great idea!
